How am I?
I consider myself a very responsible and a respectful person. I love to learn and work hard. I like to give my opinion whenever I feel it is necessary and I have no problem in receiving help or advice on my work. I like working in a team (I think it is the best way to improve) but I am able to work by myself.
Bio
I was born in December 1981 in Terrassa, a town near Barcelona. Although I grew up in Sabadell (a nearby town).
Since I was a child I felt a deep interest in Japan and in technology. I have always wanted to work in something related to artificial intelligence or, since I started college, to computer vision.
I started studying computer science at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in 1999. At the third course, since I wanted to start to work as soon as possible, I began a degree in development of computer applications that ended in 2003.
During the second year of the degree, I began an 4-month internship at Alten TIC and when it finished I was hired on the payroll. I worked for several clients and several technologies (VB. NET, VB 6.0, J2EE, PHP, ...). During that time I worked hard and acquired a good foundation for further learning (very important in my profession).
Just after completing the degree(June 2004) I started studying Computer Systems Engineering.
In 2006 I decided to change company to move forward. I received an offer from Expectra, a consultancy in Barcelona and I decided to accept it. Before joining this company I made my first trip to Asia. It was a trip to Thailand where I discovered a new aspect of my personality and I think it changed me in some way. I discovered a passion for travelling and for the photography.
I worked for 6 months in Expectra developing J2EE projects for Civil Service. During that period I could learn a different way of managing a project. After those 6 months I received an offer to work with ASP .NET technology and decided to take a new direction in my career.
In May 2007 I started working at gimage: a dynamic marketing company. During this period I worked in many areas: dealing with customers at the Helpdesk, receiving requests from department heads, analyzing, planning and developing projects, etc. It was a very enriching time, but since I had a long trip pending before settling down, I decided to leave in October.
In October 2007 I traveled to some Asian countries: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Japan.
I learned a lot and I made lots of pictures. In addition, I spent a month in Japan, and I got convinced that I was going to try to go live there shortly.
On my return (January 2008) I received a new offer from gimage: . I decided to accept to work there before going to Japan because it was a very interesting project. On my return, I met a new developer, who came into my position when I left, and he became a great colleague. He taught me a lot and I caught his interest and passion for project architecture. From him I learned C# (as the syntax is quite similar to Java I did not have much problem),.NET Framework 3.5, WPF, WCF, ...
In February 2009 my contract with gimage: ended. From that point I worked on my Degree project and in June I delivered it. In summer I did an English course (equivalent to Advanced level) and until now I have been studying Japanese.
What am I doing now?
Now I am studying Japanese and working on my personal website (this one). I'm learning PHP and developing a system similar to Struts' "Action Dispatcher". In late October I will go to Japan to study Japanese and to see how the job market is. Although I consider myself very optimistic, I have little hope of finding a job when I am going with a tourist visa ... but I shall try!
